Notes: At the last minute the day before travel and the concert i decided to make the new iphone i would be carrying to the gig useful and run some recording mics for it. After some major surgery to remove the clumsy hard-installed mics of the Zoom iQ6 i had lying around for some time i managed to hotwire it to accept my far surperior Church audio mic feeds via the Church audio preamp. [see pic]. The jack i installed wasnt ideal but it got me thru the gig with a recording that really surprised me for its quality. I picked the right place to stand for overall sound balance and low stadium reflections and the recording turned out tight and clear with strong Bono. The PA was really loud and peaking into a degree of distortion in places. There was a curfew for the noise so the band cut a few songs to make it by 10.30, notably my favourite song BAD was cut from the first part of the show which was just devastating so the show is a bit shorter than other nits on this leg. Theres a small dropout during Track 2 I Will Follow as i had to take out the phone to check recording levels and yanked the mic lead out accidentally uncovering a flaw in my mod design (wont happen again!). The adelaide crowd was really drunk for a tuesday nite and there were morons stumbling around everwhere, during Even Better Than The REal Thing one particular knucklehead kept stumbling and bumping into a nice couple in front and there was nearly a punchup, you can hear me cutting in and issuing the jackass with a warning. Otherwise the nearby audience interference is fairly low.
